Pvt. James Thompson | First Parish Cemetery Comes Alive

Escaping slavery via the Maritime Underground Railroad, James Thompson (portrayed by Stephen Spencer) found refuge in South Scituate (today’s Norwell) and later served with honor in the Fifth Massachusetts Cavalry during the Civil War. A husband, father, and solider, he lived as a free man and fought for the freedom of others.
